(Note that there can be multiple errors in one connection, and the first error code that you see may not be the one that is ultimately stopping the connection). QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

To find your error code, go to your "banking" tab on the left, and look for a red or yellow exclamation point. At the end of the error message, you should see a number in parenthesis for example: " Let’s make sure the right accounts are connected to QuickBooks. (324) " <---- in which case 324 is the error code.

Firstly I'd like to start off by posting the OFFICIAL guide for troubleshooting banking errors, then I'll mention a few things myself based on my own experiences: QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

Here is the official guide for troubleshooting banking errors in general regardless of the error:

So once you've located what your exact error code is (see above), and you've gone through the basic troubleshooting process, you should try to narrow down the problem a bit further.

QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105
Try to keep a few of these things in mind when troubleshooting bank connections:

Can I connect OTHER accounts to my banking feeds from that same bank? (For example: my checking account from bank of america may not work but my savings account works just fine). Follow up question to that: Is it only specific types of accounts that are having problems? like for example do all of the Credit Card accounts work fine but the checking / savings do not? etc etc. QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

If you can connect other accounts to QBO from the same bank but not certain ones in particular, you should first try to disconnect and reconnect all bank accounts at the same time. Sometimes certain banks like Chase have this problem where when you disconnect certain accounts to reconnect others then the ones you disconnected now have a problem and now it's a big game of whack-a-mole.

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU HAVE AN AMERICAN EXPRESS / AMEX OPEN BUSINESS CREDIT CARD, YOU CAN ONLY CONNECT ONE AMEX CARD TO QBO AT A TIME. IF YOU WISH TO USE MULTIPLE AMEX OPEN BUSINESS CARDS, THE CURRENT WORK AROUND IS TO MOVE EACH AMEX CARD TO ITS OWN SEPARATE BANKING LOGIN THEN CONNECT EACH ONE, YOU CAN DO THIS BY CALLING AMEX SUPPORT (I believe the number for this is 1-800-528-2122).

If you're connecting your bank account as a sub user of the bank, you may get errors saying you can't grant access to quickbooks from the bank, if that is the case, have the main user on your bank connect the bank account. Similar to how QBO has master admin, company admins, regular users, etc. You basically need your banking equivalent to the master admin to connect the bank account to qbo. Generally I see error 377 associated with this one more often than not so keep that in mind before calling our support number, as that is a user-serviceable error and is not something support can assist you with, however in some cases error 377 still persists even if you're the main user on the bank account, if you're sure you have access rights to connect third party apps from your bank, please call our support number for further assistance.QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

When did this error occur? Is there any specific event that may have occurred around the time period of this bank error happening? (last updated x days ago should give you the exact time frame as to when this started happening). In some cases, banks will have updates to their website layout, security, technical side, etc will affect the connection with QBO.QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

Generally speaking most banks will just tell you everything is fine on their end even if it isn't. They hear the word "fix my quickbooks" QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105 and they stop listening from there. Personally speaking I don't tell customers to call their banks during troubleshooting unless it's for a good reason.

Make sure the bank account website you're trying to connect on QBO corresponds to the right bank account you're connecting. For example: If you use bank of america business banking, then of course "bank of america personal" isn't going to be the right bank account to try to connect so keep an eye on that when searching for your bank in the list, make sure it fully matches up! (If not, you'll probably get Error 103, see more info below). QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

Disconnect all of the bank's from the banking tab for that bank in particular that you're having trouble with, then go to your bank's website and "break the connection" to qbo from your bank's side. For example, when using chase bank's there's an option to go into your account settings on the chase website, click on third party sites and apps (or something similar to that) and disconnect quickbooks' connection from the bank's side. Once you do this, try to reconnect the bank account(s) to quickbooks.

In order to disconnect your bank account from quickbooks online, go to Banking > click on the bank you wish to disconnect (it will turn blue if it's highlighted) > click the pencil icon > edit account info > click "disconnect this account on save) and save and close. Alternate method: Click "Accounting" on the left > chart of accounts (or gear icon and chart of accounts) > find the bank you want to QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105disconnect > click the drop down arrow next to "View Register" > edit > disconnect this account on save > save and close.

**If you disconnect a bank account all of your transactions in for review will disappear until you reconnect / re-import them but the transactions in the register and the reconcile status will not be affected, only for review transactions. make sure to add them in before troubleshooting banking connections!** QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

Below I will post some of the most common banking errors I help people with on a weekly basis: QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

Error 324 usually just means something has changed about where QuickBooks is going to locate your bank account information. For example, if QB is connected to your bank's site and it usually finds all of your bank info on one particular part of the site / server and then that changes, you will get error 324. Follow the prompts in the blue text to update your connection or click the pencil icon > edit sign in info > and re-sign in to the bank account. If error 324 still persists even after re-signing into the bank, please call support so we can get this reported and resolved for you. QuickBooks Banking Error 102 and 105

Error 103 generally means you've typed an incorrect username / user ID or password when signing into your bank on QBO. Please check for any typos and to verify this further.

Error 102 or 105 generally just means something is down right now, whether it's the bank's website itself or the bank's third party connection servers, blah blah technical stuff, it's down, just wait a while or call the bank!

Error 108 is probably one of the trickiest errors I've personally had to deal with. It basically means there's a little popup or something on the bank's website that needs to be addressed and cleared out before continuing. If you're connecting a credit union, you can have some issues with this error because some Credit Unions will have this little NCUA sticker on the bottom that flashes when loading your bank's site, QBO reads this as an alert that needs to be addressed when in fact it's just a pop-up that pops up on every single page of the banking website, even the login page. If this is the case and you notice this trend, please call both QBO Support and the bank to work for a collaborative solution on fixing this error.PLEASE SEE THE BOTTOM IF NONE OF THIS FIXES YOUR PROBLEMS AND YOUR BANK IS STILL NOT RECONNECTING, ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD YOUR TRANSACTIONS FROM THE BANK'S WEBSITE AND UPLOAD THEM INTO QUICKBOOKS ONLINE BANK FEEDS AS IF THEY CAME IN AUTOMATICALLY!

Error 185 and Error 187 generally have to do with the bank's one-time passcode that you must enter after you type in your user name and password. In some cases, QuickBooks may not have the section for this passcode to be entered. All hope isn't lost if you see Error 185, make sure to clear your web browser's cache and cookies (I don't recommend clearing cookies most of the time but for this particular error it's almost necessary, cookies is mostly password / login data and therefore its relevant to the login sessions).
